Literature

Phu Xuan University (PXU) is preparing to embark on a new chapter in its educational journey with the introduction of a new major in Literature (part of the Arts and Humanities field) at the undergraduate level. This is not only a decision to expand the scale of training but also a reaffirmation of the importance of humanistic values in the digital age. The Bachelor’s program in Literature at PXU promises to offer a completely different approach: modern, applicable, and rich in creativity.

1. Educational Philosophy: Where Tradition Meets the Future

Unlike the traditional mindset that views studying Literature as merely "reciting poetry and admiring the moon" or studying theoretical concepts detached from reality, PXU builds its Literature program on the philosophy of "Applied Literature".

The program not only equips students with a solid foundation in the history of Vietnamese and world literature, literary theory, and major intellectual movements of humanity, but also places special emphasis on transforming words into tools for creating practical value. Students will learn to understand human psychology through classic works, thereby developing critical thinking, aesthetic sense, and empathy – core skills that artificial intelligence (AI) cannot replace.

2. Flexible and Modern Curriculum

The Bachelor’s program in Literature at PXU is designed to be streamlined yet in-depth, divided into two distinct orientations for students to choose based on their strengths:

  • Creative Writing and Art Criticism Orientation: For those passionate about creativity, wanting to become writers, poets, screenwriters, or critics in theater, film, and literature.

  • Media and Editing Orientation (Applied Literature): Focused on commercial writing skills (Copywriting, Content Marketing), publishing editing, digital content production, and cultural management.

A special highlight of PXU is the project-based learning model. Students will not only sit in lectures but will also have to personally edit a book, create a script for a short film, or operate a digital literary/art magazine during their studies.

3. Wide Career Opportunities

One of the biggest concerns for students in the Humanities is "What will I do after graduation?" At PXU, the answer is "Opportunities abound". In an era where content is king, a Literature graduate with sharp thinking and skilled writing will be highly sought after in many fields:

  • Media & Marketing: Content creators, PR specialists, copywriters at corporations and agencies.

  • Journalism & Publishing: Reporters, editors at newspapers, television stations, publishing houses, or private book companies.

  • Education & Research: Teaching Literature in secondary schools (after obtaining a teaching certificate), researchers at language and cultural institutes.

  • Creative Industries: Screenwriters for films, games, and television programs.

4. Unique Learning Environment at PXU

Studying Literature at PXU takes place in an open space where the differences and creative personalities of each individual are absolutely respected. With a faculty comprising leading associate professors and doctors, along with the participation of renowned writers, screenwriters, and media experts, students will gain access to the most practical experiences. Additionally, creative writing clubs and exclusive art forums at PXU will serve as a solid launching pad for young talents to shine.

The new Literature program at Phu Xuan University is not only a place to train competent graduates but also a cradle for nurturing aesthetic souls, individuals who know how to use the power of words to shape and beautify life.
