History

In a world that is constantly changing and where digital technology is reshaping every field, understanding the past is the foundation for shaping the future. Anticipating this trend, Phu Xuan University (PXU) is preparing to launch a new undergraduate program in History (part of the Arts and Humanities field). With a completely new mindset, PXU will demonstrate that History is not just old dusty books, but a vibrant science, rich in application, and a valuable resource for the creative industry.

1. Training Philosophy: Turning Heritage into Assets

Differing from the traditional history training that focuses heavily on memorizing events and dates, the History program at PXU is built on the philosophy of "Applied & Public History".

The program aims to equip students with scientific methodology, critical thinking, data analysis skills, and the ability to decode social phenomena across time. At PXU, history is not only studied to be stored in libraries but is taught as a creative tool: transforming stories and heritage from the past into valuable cultural, educational, and media products in the contemporary world.

2. Innovative Curriculum Framework and Future Orientation

The Bachelor’s program in History at PXU is designed flexibly, integrating interdisciplinary approaches between the humanities and digital technology, divided into two distinct career orientations:

  • Digital History and Creative Industries: Students learn how to apply technology (such as AI, VR/AR, big data) to digitize heritage, reconstruct history, write scripts for films, video games, or develop digital content about culture - history on social media platforms.

  • Heritage Management and Cultural Tourism: Focused on knowledge of museum management, heritage conservation, archival science, design skills, and managing high-end cultural and spiritual tours.

With a project-based learning model, PXU students will directly participate in field research projects, build virtual exhibitions, or produce short documentaries during their studies.

3. Breakthrough Career Opportunities in the Digital Age

Graduating from the History program at PXU, graduates are not limited to research institutes; they possess a versatile skill set to confidently enter the job market:

  • Entertainment and Media Industry: Screenwriters, historical consultants for film projects, television series, or science editors/story developers for game production companies.

  • Tourism and Heritage: Heritage management specialists, product development specialists at major travel corporations, art museum administrators, or private museum managers.

  • Media and Publishing: Editors for history/culture books, content creators for global knowledge media channels.

  • Research and Diplomacy: Specialists at cultural departments, diplomatic agencies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on cultural preservation.

4. Open Learning Environment at PXU

Studying History at PXU is an intellectual adventure. Students are guided by a team of passionate leading experts, combined with practical field trips to heritage sites and dynamic open resource systems.

The new History program at Phu Xuan University will be an ideal launchpad for young individuals passionate about their roots but possessing a modern vision, ready to use historical knowledge to create new values for the future.
