PXU University was established on July 11, 2003, as the first and only non-public university in Hue City. The year 2018 marked a major transformation for PXU University with a significant investment from the EQuest Education Group. This milestone emphasized "Attitude – Skills – Knowledge" as the core foundation of the university's educational philosophy, while focusing on demand-driven training tailored to the economy and career-oriented expertise. On December 23, 2018, the university officially transitioned from a community-based (dân lập) to a private (tư thục) institution under Decision No. 1812/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister.
In the new developmental phase of 2025–2035, Phu Xuan University aims to become a modern higher education institution operating under the American university model. The university will place a strong focus on STEM fields, centering its core values on academic quality, practical competence, creative thinking, and international integration.
The university is also committed to expanding into a multi-campus model, with campuses strategically located in major cities across Vietnam, including Hue, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi.
Phu Xuan University’s long-term vision is to become a highly trusted higher education institution, gradually solidifying its leading position in Vietnam, regionally, and worldwide.
On 7 July 2026, EQuest Education Group, Phu Xuan University (PXU) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in PXU’s transformation into an innovative, STEM-focused university with international standing.
Under the MoU, the parties will establish the Institute of Emerging Technologies (IMT) at PXU, offering undergraduate degree programs in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Industrial Systems Engineering, Robotics, Semiconductors, and other emerging technology fields.
As the academic partner, AIT will support curriculum development, academic quality assurance, faculty development, teaching activities, and international research collaboration. Notably, graduates of IMT will have opportunities to progress to AIT’s postgraduate programs through accelerated study pathways and enjoy various tuition benefits.
This collaboration not only expands access to high-quality international education in Vietnam but also contributes to the development of highly skilled talent in strategic technology fields, in line with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
