International Students Experience Making Thanh Tien Paper Flowers in Hue
International students participating in the Hue - Vietnam International Summer Camp 2026 experience making Thanh Tien paper flowers and learn about the traditional craft culture of Hue.

As part of the Hue - Vietnam International Summer Camp 2026, students from various universities in China joined PXU students in a workshop to experience making Thanh Tien paper flowers – a traditional craft that deeply reflects the culture of Hue.

Making Thanh Tien Paper Flowers with Artisan Nguyen Hoa
Notably, the workshop was guided by Artisan Nguyen Hoa, who has been dedicated to the craft of making Thanh Tien paper flowers for over 40 years. Through the artisan's direct sharing and guidance, students had the opportunity to learn how to create paper flowers that embody the unique colors of the craft village.
Using familiar materials, each petal was shaped by the young participants, completed with skill and meticulousness. Not only did students learn how to make a handcrafted product, but they also listened to stories about the craft, culture, and the traditional values preserved through generations.
With over 40 years of dedication to the craft, Artisan Nguyen Hoa's stories made the experience journey more relatable and vivid. Thus, Thanh Tien paper flowers not only exist as a handcrafted product but also become a way for Hue's culture to be narrated through visual images and real experiences.

From Paper Flowers to International Connections
The workshop also became a natural space for interaction between Vietnamese students and international students. While making flowers, exchanging and sharing results, the language barrier gradually gave way to interaction and connection.
Through the Hue - Vietnam International Summer Camp 2026, PXU aims to provide international students with authentic experiences of Vietnamese culture, while also creating opportunities for young people from various cultures to learn and connect.
From a small paper flower, the story of a traditional craft unfolds; from shared experiences, new connections are formed between Vietnamese students and their international friends.
