Unemployment – the two most frightening words that any graduate student worries about. Especially in the current phase, the Covid-19 pandemic is severely impacting every country in the world, causing tourism in particular and economic sectors in general to decline dramatically. Let us analyze the current situation to alleviate the concerns of tourism students in particular and Vietnamese students in general.
The fight against COVID-19 shows positive signs.
The race against time to research and develop a vaccine against COVID-19 is showing positive signs. In Vietnam, the vaccine is entering the trial phase and has achieved very promising initial results.
At the same time, many countries around the world have successfully produced and tested COVID-19 vaccines. This is a hopeful sign that the global economy will quickly recover. This alleviates the anxiety of the entire Vietnamese population, especially students sitting in lecture halls.
Tourism will quickly be "revived"
Tourism is considered a key economic sector of Vietnam. In 2019, Vietnam's tourism industry achieved the milestone of welcoming 18 million international visitors, an increase of 16.2% compared to 2018. From 2015 to 2019, the number of international visitors to Vietnam increased 2.3 times from 7.9 million to 18 million, with an average growth rate of 22.7% per year. Vietnam consistently ranks among the countries with the fastest growth rate of tourists in the world. In 2019, Vietnam received the award for the World's Leading Heritage Destination from the World Travel Awards, and the Best Golf Destination in the World from the World Golf Awards. Additionally, the World Travel Awards honored Vietnam as Asia's Leading Destination for two consecutive years, 2018-2019, Asia's Leading Cultural Destination in 2019, and Asia's Leading Culinary Destination in 2019.
In 2020, although global tourism was stalled due to the pandemic, the post-pandemic period is expected to be a time of "explosion" for both international and domestic tourism. This is because tourism has now become an indispensable need for human life. The prolonged pandemic has led to a phenomenon of "itchy feet" among travelers. Everyone longs to explore new lands and relieve the prolonged psychological pressure.
It is predicted that in the "post-covid" era, the tourism industry will need a large and high-quality workforce. Therefore, students should prepare themselves with the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively after graduation.
The connection between the University and tourism businesses
At Phu Xuan University, the training program is built on a close connection between the "University – Business". As a pioneering university in applying the Learning Office and Project-Based Learning models in Vietnam, Phu Xuan students learn practically from businesses and a team of business lecturers from their first and second years.
The commitment to job placement for students from training institutions is extremely important. Currently, Phu Xuan University – Hue is one of the leading universities in Vietnam committed to introducing jobs for students after graduation. Therefore, for Phu Xuan students in general, and students in the Tourism Service Management & Travel Management program in particular, there is no need to worry about their future jobs. What you need to do now is to study well, nurture your passion for the tourism industry, and practice the necessary skills.
The serious study of students, combined with the school's practical training orientation, will ensure that the tourism industry in Vietnam has good workers in the future.
